Song: September
Artist: Alexander Motovilov
I haven't done anything the past few days...
as I had developed Bronchitis.
I shouldn't have been working outdoors while ill...
so...
for the next few days...
I will just be doing indoor things...
or just staying in bed.
This morning...
I felt like eating a Mexican breakfast burrito (wrapped like a taco :).
I laid down a bed of grated cheese...
upon which I put on a layer of corned beef hash...
and then a couple of eggs.
I then covered them with my favorite verde...
...and then had a delicious meal.
Today was the Cripple Creek Mountain Estates Wildfire Mitigation Team...
Volunteer Dinner.
I went to the community center early to help set things up.
I then helped get the ribs ready for the oven.
The man here is part of the husband and wife team who had...
for years...
run the Cripple Creek Mountain Estates Wildfire Mitigation Team...
by themselves.
They had organized and run the team with the help of the
community center staff...
and the Four Mile Fire stations.
Earlier in the year...
the wife had put out a call for volunteers from the community...
and so...
I volunteered to help out...
as did many others.
The husband and wife team are still the main organizers...
but many people with backgrounds in logistics and other talents...
soon filled in to greatly help them.
I just fill in as minor background support wherever there is a need...
but I put in nowhere near the work many of the others have put in.
Many of the volunteers spend days chipping wood...
and others are taking classes in using chainsaws to help the elderly
and needy cut trees on their properties.
While still others reach out to organizations to organize their volunteers
to cut fire breaks in strategic areas.
The woman standing on the left is the wife of the team.
The whole room was filled with the volunteers who had filled in the various capacities
that helped make this year so productive.
We each got hats as volunteers.
The husband of the leadership team explained what the volunteers had accomplished over the year.
And the wife also explained about certain logistics behind the teams throughout the year.
The husband and wife team are highly organized...
and are the master planners of all the teams...
the budgeting...
the logistics...
and the overall planning for the future needs of the community...
in reference to wildfire mitigation.
The man standing with his arm outstretched is the president of the POA...
and he has been a big help in approving and allocating money
to the wildfire mitigation committee.
The husband and wife who are the firebrands and the master organizers
of the Cripple Creek Mountain Estates Wildfire Mitigation Teams...
are both standing and thanking the volunteers for all of their work.
---------
Now...
for the next few days...
I will be resting mostly...
and concentrating on getting fully healed before
working on the deck once again.
I have one week before we are expecting snow.
So...
I need to get fully well before then...
as I have a few more things to do on the deck to prepare it for the first snows.
