Song: Know Who You Are At Every Age
Group: Cocteau Twins
I had played this song over and over on the way home.
The emotion this song evoked, just matched the surreal scenery.
I was on my way to Colorado Springs to try a new dumpling and noodle bowl restaurant...
and to go to the Asian market.
The temperature went down to 8 F ( -13.3 C )...
and once in Woodland Park...
it had begun to lightly snow.
In Woodland Park, I could see low clouds among the mountains...
with the clouds covering much of Pikes Peak.
I loved today's drive into and back from Colorado Springs.
I like driving in snowy conditions...
as the atmosphere lends to a mysterious and etherial feel.
I would soon experience being in the low clouds with light snow falling.
I decided to eat first.
The Asian market is just a few miles from here.
I had tried the sister restaurant of this one a year or so ago in Downtown Colorado Springs.
It was the best Middle Eastern restaurant I had ever been to.
I will try this one sometime in the future...
as it is in the same parking lot as the noodle and dumpling restaurant.
Now this is a beef and noodle dish!
It had tons of delicious, tender, juicy...
and very flavorful beef in it.
After being seated...
I knew it would be good because when more people came in...
two of the three couples who had soon followed were native Chinese
(They spoke in Mandarin)...
and playing on the inner sound system...
was Mandarin music.
I always see how many former nationals from other countries visit
their particular ethnic restaurant.
Whenever I see that...
I know the food will have an authentic flavor.
OMG...
I was in heaven eating this beef noodle bowl.
The stock was so full of flavor...
with a variety of different spices...
and with just enough heat to zing up the whole dish.
This is the full flavor I had been in search of for so long.
I have finally found my noodle place...
and as for dumplings...
it is either here...
or Yellow Mountain Tea House.
Their Dim Sum was so delicious.
The sauces had a unique and incredibly delicious flavor.
I had such a grand feast here.
My search for noodle soup has ended.
Anytime I want to have some...
it is here I shall return.
I have never had such deep flavor in such a dish before.
Their chocolate mousse cake was so light and tasty as well.
I then headed into the Asian market to pick up a few items.
In the same parking lot of the Asian market is this sushi place.
I think I will try it next time I want sushi.
I then drove home listening to music.
Just moments from home here.
I stocked up on Kimchi...
...Udon...
and Yakisoba.
I am going to make chicken and shrimp Yakisoba in the near future.
Yakisoba and Takoyaki was my favorite late night meal
from a lone night vendor at one of the exits to Osaka train station.
I would often arrive home late from work in Japan in the mid 80s...
and I would get a large container of Yakisoba and Takoyaki to eat...
as he made it fresh right there in his little street stand.
As I only lived a ten minute walk from Osaka station...
I just took it home to eat after stopping at a vending machine for my favored drinks.
It feels good to be stocked up on some of my favorite Japanese food.
Whenever I make roast beef...
I always save some to later make beef udon.
--------------
I have found my forever noodle place...
and another choice for dumplings.
There are just so many great restaurants right near the Asian market.
I will be sure to stop in whenever I go back.
-------------
I had such a great day.
The whole feel of the drive was so magical.
I rode back feeling so satisfied...
all the while playing the above song over and over.
The low clouds had diffused the light...
which had lent to a deeply soulful drive.
For me...
today was such a beautiful day.
---------
It is supposed to lightly snow tomorrow...
so I will be looking forwards to it.
Unless I feel otherwise...
I most likely will brew some peppermint tea...
light the fireplace...
and just read in my recliner as I watch the snow falling through the great room windows.
As for now...
as I had stayed up until 4 AM last night...
and my belly is full...
I think I will just take a nap...
and then once I awaken...
I will just do whatever I feel like doing in the moment.
Ah...
I never tire of freedom :)

After not yet being able to find a great place for pho, it must have been especially satisfying to find this place for such delicious Chinese noodles.
ReplyDeleteLooked like a beautiful drive with the snow and clouds.
That beef noodle dish was so delicious. It is especially good when it is cold outside. I am going to try some of their other dishes as well.
ReplyDeleteI agree about when you see Chinese nationals well dressed and gathering at a Chinese restaurant. It is usually flavorful with really good dim sum.
ReplyDeleteI was so pleased with the beef noodle and dim sum dishes there. The spices and sauces used were so good. The dishes served were unlike the many Americanized versions of "Chinese" food. This was the flavor that people from that part of China enjoyed, and that is why it was so flavorful and unique.
