Song: Theme From Valley Of The Dolls
Artist: Dionne Warwick
Right now...
I have some guests over for a couple of weeks.
Today...
I took them to the Cave Of The Winds in Manitou Springs.
I was surprised at how well developed this attraction was.
I really enjoyed this attraction.
It is just one of the many hidden gems of my area.
We are on our way up from Manitou Springs...
on the road leading to the Cave Of The Winds.
We were almost there.
The outcropping building is the entrance to the cave system.
They have this daring walkabout attraction for children.
They are tethered to a safety wire so they had no chance of falling.
-------------
One of my guests took this shot.
This shows how daring the children who go on this attraction are!
------------------
The inside of the entrance building had a nice seating area for their food bar...
and just outside of it they had a nice observation deck from which
you could see down into the canyon...
and across to Pikes Peak.
Manitou Springs is below.
They had one zip line operating...
while the others were closed until spring.
We went on a one hour guided cave tour.
Our guide was very professional and informative.
Their gift shop was very reasonably priced and had a large selection
of souvenirs.
We got into the car and headed to The Garden Of The Gods for a quick drive through.
After driving through the park...
we headed on into Colorado Springs city to eat at an all you can eat sushi restaurant.
It had been a couple of months since I had last eaten sushi...
and so...
it was a special treat for me to be back.
Their food was just so good.
After my miso soup...
of which was very good...
I had a variety of appetizers.
Our first order of sushi arrived and we all dug in.
It was all so good.
On our way back to my home...
we saw Christmas lights at various points in Woodland Park.
At the Cave Of The Winds gift shop...
I purchased this beautiful coffee mug.
I loved this metallic flake blue on glossy black colored mug.
I have it on display in the kitchen.
The Cave Of The Winds was just half an hour away...
and in a couple of days...
we are going to The Royal Gorge...
a little over half an hour from home.
It is supposed to be very beautiful there.
On Tuesday we are supposed to have snow...
but on the following day...
we are planning on driving up to Pikes Peak.
We will also be going to Breckinridge for a day trip...
as well as to other nearby gems of Colorado...
with eating out at various restaurants throughout most of their stay.
Bandi accompanied us today...
but she stayed in the car.
However...
as always...
she thoroughly enjoyed the car ride.
Sounds like a really enjoyable time. I love caves and the amazing stories of the early explorers who ventured in there with limited resources. I can’t wait to visit later on this summer/autumn. Your guests have such a wonderful break from city life to the natural beauty of CO.
ReplyDeleteIt was a good day. We are taking it easy today and tomorrow. We will just go out to eat. Tomorrow, I will take them to the nearby casinos. Yes, my guest remarked how the atmosphere was so healthful for the mind.
ReplyDeleteI love caves! Nice that you have one so nearby. And that challenge course looks fun for daring kids... I wouldn't have done it, though. :)
ReplyDeleteThat sushi looks really good! Reminds me of the all-you-can-eat places you used to go to in Reno.
Hope you have nice weather for Royal Gorge and Pike's Peak. That is so nice that those places are so close for you.
Yes, we are planning on visiting many places. Today looks like it will snow soon. Hopefully on our trip days, the weather will be nice.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't go on that kid attraction either. :)
Yes, the sushi was excellent. There are so many restaurants to visit. Tonight we are going to eat Chinese.
