A Different Trike Route Up The Mountain

Song (Cover):  Chevaliers De Sangreal

Original Composer / Performer:  Hans Zimmer

From the YouTube Channel:  TwelveKeys Piano

Today...
I took Bandi on another mountain run as I rode my trike.

This time...
I took another route up to the top of the mountain.

I live on one of the ridge lines of the mountain.

Today I went down enough to go from my ridge line...
 to an adjacent one...
and I took that up to the top of the mountain.

Today was another beautiful spring day.

The temperature was about 50 F (10 C)...
and there was this wonderful 10 MPH or so...
cool mountain breeze blowing the whole time.

I just took a left from my driveway...
and began my day's journey.

Where I live is perfect for triking or hiking.
There are hundreds of kilometers of mountain roads
throughout my mountain community.

As most of the homes are used for vacation homes...
or are used for a future retirement home...
a car traveling on these roads is rare.

During my rides of several miles on these roads...
I have yet to meet a car.

I love it that whenever I feel like triking...
I just have to either go left from my driveway to go down the mountain...
or go right to go up the mountain.

I then have access to hundreds of kilometers of interconnected roads with beautiful views...
mountain breezes...
and nary a car.

The mountains near home are covered in Aspen groves...
which turn a brilliant yellow in Autumn.

As always...
I give Bandi plenty of rest stops along the way.

I am near the ridge line transition point here.

And...
we are going up another ridge line here.

Bandi loves taking bites out of the snow.

There was another road leading down from the ridge line...
but we continued on the road leading up to the top of the mountain.

We are near the top here.

We are at the top here.

Bandi eating more snow at one of her rest stops.

The cool mountain breeze felt so good as I looked out at the distant snow covered mountains.

From the top of the mountain...
we have to go down a little before going back up to mount my ridge line.

We are near the top of my ridge line here.

And we are headed down my ridge line to home.

We are near home here.

And...
we are home.

These stone steps lead to the house from near the junction of the lower and upper driveways.

My trike positioned in the garage...
ready for my next triking adventure.

-----------

Triking here is not only incredibly convenient and such good exercise...
but it soothes the soul.

My ICE Full Fat RS is the perfect trike to ride on these mountain roads...
in all weather.

It handles snow and mud without a hitch...
as some of my best rides are in snow.

Although...
the Autumn rides when the Aspens are in full color
will prove to be nothing short of amazing.

Although I have driven these roads in my car in full Autumn splendor...
nothing beats triking to fully experience the outdoors.

It allows for full immersion of all of your senses at once...
and makes use of all of your peripheral vision without hindrance...
and as you breathe in the mountain air deeply due to your peddling...
it is nothing short of delicious...
and not something you can experience by car.

--------

To all of my fellow senior citizens...
get a trike...
and hit the trails.

You will love it so much...
you will get your exercise regularly...
as you fill your soul with grand beauty.

A Serene Snowfall / A Forest Walk

Song:  Enter The Dream

Artist:  Mike Rowland

Today it lightly snowed most of the day.

The powdery snow fell straight down...
as there was no wind...
and so...
even though it was snowing...
it didn't feel cold outside at all.

The stillness and dead quietness was surreal.

I felt the calling of the wild...
and so...
with just snow boots, sweatpants, a jacket over my t-shirt, and a beanie...
I took Bandi on a walk around the property.

Bandi loves the surrounding forest.

We walked up to her new bathroom area...
and then started down the ridge.

I change her bathroom area every so often.

This allows her waste products to break down in the environment
without building up in any one area.

Bandi was excited to explore new territory.

She sniffed the ground and looked under branches and rocks.

The snow was only half a foot or so deep...
so walking was easy.

I didn't go all the way down to the end of the property...
as it started to get steeper...
and the snow would have been slippery on the way up.

It was so quiet...
as if the whole world had been put on mute.

By the time we reached home again...
as we had just climbed up the ridge...
I kneeled down for a few moments to catch my breath.
Bandi immediately put her paws on my shoulders and began licking me on my face
as she wagged her tail in great delight.

She had such a wonderful time exploring the forest.

One last look at the forest below before going in the front door.

After we rested a bit...
I made Bandi and myself a high protein supper.

I had cut up one whole sausage...
and butter sautéed a dozen eggs for both of us to eat.

We deserved a special meal today...
as we had done a bit of walking.

We shared the meal about half n' half.

I made two egg and sausage sandwiches for myself...
and I hand fed Bandi the rest of the eggs and sausage as I ate my meal.

Afterwards...
Bandi just stretched out on my bed...
feeling full contentment with her walk in the forest and her hot meal afterwards.

I then went up to the loft computer station to type up this blog article...
although I didn't finish it until later this night.

------------

We both had a wonderful time walking in the forest...
with cotton candy like puffs of powdery snow falling...
and with the un-tread snow before us.

The crisp air is always so fresh and invigorating...
and the serenity of the view of the snow covered mountains and trees was like a dream...
and all without any of the modern day distractions...
the noise and the crowds of people.

I simply love the peacefulness of my silent forest.
