Song: You're A God
Group: Vertical Horizon
This morning...
I took my elder sister and her husband (James) to Cripple Creek...
to the Chamonix Casino.
I had originally thought that there was a BierWerks pub there.
When I looked it up online after coming back from the one in Woodland Park...
I saw a listing for one in the Chamonix Casino
(It turned out to be an old ad...
or for a proposed one for inside...
but there wasn't one in the casino).
So...
my sister sat down at a slot machine and began playing.
Her husband sat down at a slot machine in the next row down.
As I don't gamble
(I find it tedious...boring)...
I just walked around taking photos.
As it was still early in the day...
the casino was relatively empty.
When I returned to where my sister was sitting...
James was sitting next to her.
In the space of half an hour...
my sister had won more than $120 (total profit...minus what she had spent).
She frequently wins at casinos because after she wins more than $100...
she will cash out...
and then just play with $20 credit...
and win or lose...
she will walk away satisfied
(they have a casino near where they live as well).
As today was a day of relaxation...
we went home and I cooked roast beef.
Tomorrow...
if we feel up to it...
we will take a couple hour car trip through the mountains to the West...
for photos.
----------------
As the carpets were on clearance...
and I feared they would soon sell out...
I ordered enough for me to finish up my deck projects
(6 more 6 x 36 foot rolls).
Although I will still have to order other things to complete my projects...
the marine outdoor carpets should keep me busy for at least another month or two.
I will have to do a lot of measuring and cutting just for the fitting.
I will also have to start preparing my Japanese Maple site...
so when it arrives at the end of October...
I will be able to plant it straight away.
I still have to get a few more tools...
soil and fertilizer...
as well as staking and tying implements.
I really want this tree to succeed...
so it will take many things to ensure that.
After staking it out...
I will also have sheet plastic to wrap around the stakes to protect the new planting
from the freezing winter winds...
and I will fill it with insulating moss.
If it grows well...
I will be planting many more in the future.
I want to have many brilliant scarlet Autumn colors
mixed in with the luminescent yellows of the Aspens.
I will soon also buy many wild flowers to mix in other colors.
This will involve preparing certain sites for planting them as well.
But...
I will just be doing a little bit each day...
mostly because as I am very fair skinned...
I burn easily in the sun.
Looks like you'll be busy with your projects. Hope the Japanese Maple will grow in high elevation.
ReplyDeleteYes, I have so many projects...I simply have no excuse for being bored.
ReplyDeleteThis Japanese Maple tree is going to be the test run. As even in the 8,500 ft or so altitude of the Hunza Valley in upper Pakistan, they grow apricots, apples, and cherries. I am only another 1,100 ft. higher. Hopefully my Japanese Maple will do well. I ordered one of the most colorful and hardy of the Japanese Maples (Osakazuki).
