Pikes Peak 14,115 ft - 4302.31 Meters / BierWerks - A German Pub

Song:  Time

Composer:  Hans Zimmer

This morning...
my elder sister, Bandi, and I drove up to the top of Pikes Peak.

James (my sister's husband)...
decided to just rest at home...
as he had seen it before.

Pikes Peak is the tallest mountain to the left.
I can actually see Pikes Peak from home.

We are in Woodland Park on our way to the Hwy turnoff for Pikes Peak...
which is on the other side of Woodland Park...
near Manitou Springs.

I was surprised to see several cyclists climbing the mountain...
supermen.

It was a perfect 52 F (11.1 C)

I live in the dark green mountain range facing Pikes Peak...
just this side of the brown area in the distance...and to the right

I live about 7 miles northwest of the town of Cripple Creek.

Although I couldn't make out the exact location of my housing area...
after looking more at my photos...
and some of the landmarks...
the front green mountain just above the rocks to the right...
just behind my sister...
looks like the most likely area where I live.

I cannot be sure though.
All I know is that I can see Pikes Peak in the distance from the loft at home.

They also have of cog railway that takes people to the top
from its lower station in Manitou Springs.

We had a good time there.

It is another must see location in the Colorado Springs area.

We then drove back home and picked up James for lunch at a German Pub...
in Woodland Park.

Both, James and I had a nonalcoholic beer (Blonde)...
while my sister had a craft beer.

I really liked the taste of Blonde.
It was so smooth and was not bitter at all.

In this pub...
they had a moveable race course which held the regular customer's own mug.

My sister had ordered a soft pretzel with cheese dip.
I had some...
and it was so good.

We also had a salami and cheese platter to share.

I also had a Brat with sauerkraut.

I really liked this German Pub.

Tomorrow...
I think we will be taking it easy at home.

We are all a little worn out from our travels.

  1. Looks like you picked a nice day to go to Pike's Peak. Love that view from the top!

That's neat that regular customers can keep their beer steins at the pub!

  2. I finally got there. We had a great time. For most of the year, the top is closed to vehicle traffic due to snow. But, the cog railway is open for most of the year.

I am going to try the pub in Cripple Creek. I really liked the atmosphere. Some of the regulars sat next to us after we finished eating, and they just started chatting away...and this was before they started drinking. :)
