III - A Long Autumn Neighborhood Trike Ride / Sunset

Song:  Alone

Artist:  Ray Wilson

This is the last article for this series.

Bandi and I were still climbing our ridge line...
and the farther up we went...
the greater were the distant views.

Almost home here.

We had finally reached home.

Bandi was so tired at this point...
as was I.

My right calf was on the verge of cramping...
but it was all so worth it.

When Bandi got inside...
she drank some water...
and then parked herself on my bed.

I began uploading the photos to my computer...
and once I was partially through typing up my first article...
I noticed an amber glow coming from the great room windows.

It was then that I realized that sunset was beginning.

I stepped out onto the third floor deck to capture the sunset.

The colors had extended to the clouds all around me...
up and behind as well.

What a fitting end to a magnificent day...
starting with my morning walk with Bandi around my property...
to triking around my neighborhood...
and then viewing this sunset from my third floor deck.

This was one of those days which get forever saved in the hard drive of my mind
for future replay at my leisure.

To have the deep and resonant feeling of colors and music...
all blended with the tactile sensations of the wind upon my face...
and of hearing the birds in the trees...
made for a day of which dreams are made.

  1. That ride must have worn you both out. I bet Bandi slept well that night and also just wanted to take it easy the next day.

Wow! That might be the best sunset you've had since you've been in Colorado! It's like the sky was on fire!

  2. Now...a few days later...we are both still not fully recovered. I took it easy yesterday...and I will do the same today. My body still aches all over, but my calves and lower back feel it the most. Tonight, I think a good home cooked dish of Mountain Man Pad Thai will give us a good amount of protein in a tasty dish.

Although, beautiful days are the norm up here...
I was just so surprised at how everything came together in that one day...starting with the morning, and all through till night. Yes, that sunset just made the exclamation point on a day that I had thought upon which could simply not be improved. And with the season aligning the sun at angles I can easily see from the third floor balcony for sunsets, it looks like I will be capturing many more from there if I am too tired to trike to the top of the mountain (although I will usually choose to trike). It was just one of those perfect days in life that will be long remembered.
