Chili Rice / Pizza And A Day Of Indulgence

Chili Rice is another favorite rice dish of mine.

Actually...
my mother used to make it for we children when we were young.

However, she made her own chili from scratch.

The chili I buy is about as close to her old chili recipe that I have found.

Chili Rice is so delicious and hearty...
and makes such a soul satisfying and convenient meal that I will have it every so often.

I sometimes just get a deep craving for the taste that nothing else will fill.

I usually put some Tabasco on top and then mix it in.

I made myself some Chili Rice last week...
and as I checked the pantry today...
I had seen that I was down to but one can of chili.

In the future...
I plan to make my own chili in large batches.

But...
until that day...
I just love the chili that I buy.

So...
this morning...
even though it was lightly snowing...
I had two main cravings on my mind...
chili...
and Pizza.

I decided to go shopping at Safeway in Woodland Park.

I just had to stock up on as many cans of my favorite chili...
as so I could make more chili rice whenever I feel like it.

And...
I had a craving for more of AJ's Pizza.

As I had nothing else going on today...
I decided to just stock up on a few other things as well.

The snow was just a few inches deep...

...so, there was no need to plow the roads.

Just after exiting my mountain ridge line towards the main mountain road
leading to the main road into town...
there is this herd of deer that I often see just grazing nearby.

As it was still slightly snowing...
I only kept the car windows partially open
(snow would get inside the car if I fully opened them)...
otherwise...
my own body heat makes it too uncomfortably warm in the car.

All the way to the store...
I kept thinking about the pizza I would get on my way home.

Yes...
I am like a child when it comes to my cravings.

I just love food...
and when I get certain cravings...
I make it my mission to satisfy those cravings.

On my way home after shopping...
I stopped in at one of my favorite pizza places.

Although this double Italian sausage and mushroom pizza is what I had a craving for...
I won't be getting double Italian sausage on my pizza's any more.

As it is now dusk...
I still have a bit of heart burn from eating it.

Don't get me wrong...
I loved it...
but the lingering effects put a damper on my cravings for such a pizza in the future.

I normally just get the regular sausage...
and not the Italian sausage...
because the Italian sausages are spicy and large.

The regular sausage is just right for me.

Their pizzas are just so delicious...
the crust, sauce, and cheese are not only top quality and just the right consistency...
but their proportions and ratios are just so spot on.

I then drove back home...
greatly enjoying the drive.

The included song began playing on my way home
(and yes...I just repeated it all the way home).

It had just the right amount of smooth and jazzy...
mixed in with a slight melancholy feel.

With the roads being mostly empty...
and with the skies being clouded over...
the music just fit the mood.

Ah...
my favorite chili brand and style...
with beans.

I bought every can they had left (they only had 8 cans left)  :(

But...
as they were 1 kilogram each...
they should last me for a while
(each can will make two servings of chili rice for me).

I had also picked up my favorite bread.

This bread is so soft and moist...
slightly sweet...
and highly addictive.

As you can see...
I just love this brand of bread.

I will often just eat the bread plain...
as it just tastes and feels so good.

I had also picked up Bandi a whole rotisserie chicken for her to eat
over her next two feedings.

I love giving her treats whenever I go shopping.

I had also picked up some different cheeses to eat with my meals.

------------

Yes...
today was a day of indulgence for me.

I had even taken a nap after coming home and feeding Bandi.

That was part of my mistake...
going to sleep after having stuffed myself on that spicy pizza.

But...
it was oh so good!

And so...
to finish off my day of indulgence...
I am going back to bed...
and watch some reruns until I get sleepy.

My inner child is having the time of his life today.  :)
