Song: Walk On Water
Artist: Neil Diamond
Today...
near sunset...
I decided to take Bandi on a walk up the mountain.
Although the walk was only about 1 mile...
it was all uphill
(two miles round trip).
I had to stop several times on the way up to catch my breath.
Bandi had a lot of fun on our walk.
It was the first time I had walked up the mountain.
To see the sunset at Sunset Point...
we just walk a little ways down the road from home.
But...
today...
as I began our walk...
Bandi automatically started walking down the mountain
until I gave her leash a tug as we were going up the road instead.
Just around a few corners up the road...
one of my neighbor's house stood out.
It had a unique build.
It looked to be part mountain chalet and part European castle.
Bandi heard a distant barking of a neighbor's dog on a far ridge.
This was just one of my several rest stops along the way.
At the top...
this neighbor had built a beautiful home with lots of views.
Our whole mountain community is made up of custom homes.
They have a minimum lot size and a minimum house size requirement...
so...
the whole mountain is filled with unique homes.
The walk back home was a breeze.
The chill in the air cooled me down quite a bit...
as I had been huffing and puffing all the way up.
It was a beautiful walk...
very peaceful and serene...
on the way down :)
We finally reached home once again.
Bandi and I stood on the third floor balcony to view the sunset...
and to cool off.
I had taken off my jacket and just stood there
in my t-shirt and sweat pants in the light crisp breeze...
to continue cooling off.
Once the light faded...
Bandi and I went inside to the loft.
Right now...
Bandi is lying on the floor...
all stretched out and asleep.
This little evening walk was good for the both of us.
I am sure to sleep well tonight as well.
The beauty is breathtaking
ReplyDeleteAnd the exercise was just right...with frequent breaks. Bandi was so tired afterwards that she slept for hours. I get nice sunsets from the third floor balcony...but every so often, I will walk to sunset point with Bandi if I see great cloud formations.
ReplyDeleteNice walk. Do you feel like your body has adjusted to the higher elevation?
ReplyDeleteYes, much more so. However, I have much more training to do to get into shape. It takes longer up here, as I still get winded easily. But, with each exercise session, I get stronger, and most importantly, I no longer get winded doing everyday tasks.
