Song: Final Fantasy - Prelude (Piano Cover)
Artist: Jonathan Morris
I had seen an advertisement for this piece of kinetic art at a park
just on the other side of Woodland Park the other day.
So...
today...
I decided to take a short drive into town to grab a bite to eat
before driving another 10 minutes beyond...to the park.
The park is located in the quaint little town of Green Mountain Falls...
just a few minutes beyond the Woodland Park Walmart (where I do most of my shopping).
It is located almost 2,000 ft below my elevation...
and has a population of about 700 people.
They have this beautiful little park there.
I stopped in at an Arby's restaurant in Woodland Park.
They have gyros...
and they were absolutely delicious.
They had only cost $3.50 each...
and were made authentically
(thinly sliced beef/lamb with real tsatziki sauce on
a soft Turkish flat bread).
I ate two of them...
and now I have a place for a really good gyro
without needing to pay 3x as much for the same thing elsewhere.
After eating...
I drove on down the highway to the exit just 5 or so minutes beyond here.
Pikes Peak in the background.
This is the turn off from the highway.
It was less than a five minute drive to get to the park.
This piece of kinetic art undulated in the wind like a multi colored serpent.
It was made from thousands of pieces of kite material.
The temperature was in the high 70s F...
and the wind was between 5 to 15 mph.
I first walked to the gazebo.
I then walked along the far walkway...
which ran parallel with the undulating art piece.
As I walked beneath the art piece...
I could see the effects of the wind upon it.
I could also hear the fluttering of the thousands of pieces of the undulating serpent...
as the wind alternated from a gentle breeze to spirited gusts...
which made the kinetic art piece move about in synch with the wind.
The combination of the fluttering colors and the sounds it made...
made for a beautiful piece of moving art.
The whole time there...
I was transfixed as I just stood and watched it as I felt the cooling breeze upon my face.
The day was just so magical...
so perfect.
After watching for a while...
I then made my way back to the car.
I took one last photo before getting into the car.
I absolutely love this little park.
I drove back to the highway...
put on a high energy song...
and for the whole way back...
I rocked out to it.
I just felt so good...
I played air...
guitar...
drums...
bass flute...
keyboard...
and belted out some slightly out of tune vocals...
to this early 80s song:
Song: Don't Tell Me You Love Me
Group: Night Ranger
Yeah...
I rocked out the whole way home to this one song...
over and over.
Some people in nearby cars looked at me as my head bobbed back and forth...
and side to side...
and my hands were either playing the guitar, the drums...
or some other imaginary instrument.
I must have appeared as if I were having a seizure...
but I didn't care.
I was in the groove...
as it was the perfect way to celebrate such a perfect day.
